In our first meeting we came up with our shared fundamental principles, activities we’ll understand as a collective and next date for our meetup in February! Here’s the news all in one page for you!

1. Our Principles

Thanks to the people who joined us for our first meeting we established some fundamental principles we will follow and uphold as the cornerstone of our activities as a grassroot group

  1. No Spiritual Bypassing, intended as:

“a tendency to use spiritual ideas and practices to sidestep or avoid facing unresolved emotional issues, psychological wounds, and unfinished developmental tasks". Learn more here: Spiritual Bypass.

As a corollary to this, we don’t support any kind of Toxic Positivity a-la “positive vibes only” and compulsory gratitude which can support the oppression of the most marginalised

  2. Antipatriarchal Trans Liberation

We support the inviolable right of trans people to be recognised in their identity and will not tolerate any justification or attempted enforcement of arbitrary expectations based on gender identity or expression. We recognise gender is a spectrum and the extremes of it do not constitute the only binary.

  3. Bodily Sovereignty and Autonomy

We respect and recognise the unalienable right of every individual to choose what to do with their body, the inviolability of the physical body and the importance of personal autonomy, self-ownership, and self-determination of human beings over their own bodies, which includes but is not limited to: the rights of trans people, reproductive rights, and the aim for fat liberation.

  4. Free Palestine

We recognise the Palestinian Genocide at the hands of the Colonial Project of Israel supported by the US and the UK, and we are committed to support the Palestinian people’s right to their own land against settler colonialism in all its forms. We support the Boycott, Divest and Sanction movement and actively avoid the companies and organisations they are working against.

  5. Anti-Racism

We will take action in every context we are part of to stand against white supremacy and support the rights and dignity of people of colour. We will challenge racist statements and will enact and support anti racist action in all our endeavours.

  6. Mitigation of Climate Collapse

We recognise the anthropogenic effect on climate since the industrial revolution and globalisation, and while we acknowledge that the responsibility is mainly of industrial sector, we are committed to ecologically support the land, which means using locally sourced materials and ingredients for our workings and work with the local flora of South Wales with a conscious approach to support its biodiversity with only sustainable foraging through ethical harvesting. We do not use or endorse the usage of protected plants that belong to different biological ecosystem such as White Sage or Palo Santo and we do not support the purchase of any components of our workings via the likes of Amazon.

  7. Accessibility, Equal Opportunities and Rights for all Disabled People

We strive to make all our activities inclusive and we will be listening to any specific request for accessibility that we might have not already thought of beyond our own experience of disability to take action and make this space accessible to anyone.

  8. A World Without Borders

The lottery of being born on one side or the other of an imaginary border does not make anyone intrinsically better or worse.

These principles are the cornerstone of our activities as a local group, in time there might be additions as we explore and understand the needs of our community and out local area better. There will be member’s vote in regards of activities and policies in the future, consider these our red lines.

2. First Meetup at Porters’, Tuesday 13th January 2026

We are incredibly grateful to the people who showed up and showed there is indeed an interest in the South Wales area to come together with other witchy inclined activists to use our magical and mundane action in support of social justice. We highlighted not only some activities we’d like to engage with through C.A.W! but also other local organisations we’d be happy to collaborate with or fundraise for as we can see them sharing our values. Here’s an unexhaustive list which will be updated in time

South Wales Grassroots Organisations

C.A.W! Future Activities will include:

  • workshops on magical activism

  • prepare for protests together

  • sharing magical and social knowledge with each other

  • organising group rituals, raffles and fundraisers for causes such as Palestine and Trans Rights.

3. Save the Date: Next C.A.W! Meetup will be on Wednesday 25th February 2026, at Porters’ Theatre (Downstairs, wheelchair accessible)

We hope to see you at our next meeting, which will be a Workshop about Sigil Magic for Protection! More details will follow!

Actual (not) Picture of our first Meetup at Porters’, Cardiff

As said previously, we are adamant this doesn't try to be a coven, there's no pressure onto any one person and you can dip in and out as you feel comfortable with.

You can bring your deck or your project and just be there with us if parallel play is less pressure and more your thing.

We look forward to meeting all of you wonderful like-minded witches, activists, and curious ones in between!

In solidarity ✊🏽
